Vocalist & Guitarist Duo For Parties, Events & Weddings
‘Aroha’ in the language of the indigenous people of New Zealand means love. Soo and Josh hold steadfastly to the belief that their music portrays and reflects their love of entertaining, making music, and joi de vivre.
The music of Aroha is a unique blend of the South Pacific and East Asia. Soo brings the ancient esoteric culture of Korea, joining it with Josh’s raw and mysterious heritage of the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand.
Aroha deliver unparalleled musical precision combining their years of study with even more years of on-the-road experience. The result is a consummate blend of technique, raw emotion, and projection.
Aroha are able to move seamlessly through a dazzling array of musical genres. From Jazz standards, to classical/flamenco virtuoso guitar pieces, Country, Folk, Latin, Reggae and Rock to smash hits from the biggest musicals – Aroha does it all.
Soo is cool, charming and thoughtful in her performance whilst Josh is candid, witty, and spontaneous. Their wildly differing personalities synergize on stage, with the result being performances that are unpredictable, memorable, and charismatic.
Soo holds a Bachelor of Musical Performance from Dankook University- Korea’s most prestigious performing arts institution. She has performed throughout Europe, America, South America, and Asia in a diverse number of roles from being a lead singer in the Broadway production of Maria Maria in 2005, to a traditional percussionist / dancer with the world-famous Korean group Dulsori.
Josh holds a Licentiate with Distinction in Performance Classical Guitar from the world renowned Trinity College of London. He has performed in the Middle East, Asia and New Zealand in a multitude of musical situations from solo classical guitar recitals, to French/South American duos, orchestras and Top 40 covers bands.
Aroha are able to perform acoustically or with state-of-the art sequences dependent upon the requirements of the venue.
Their hardware and backing tracks are of the highest quality and have minimal visual impact onstage. All sequences function via a sleek and stylish Apple iPad2.
The result is a duo with soaring fidelity and a suave, sophisticated appearance, befitting any stage.
